Boston City Councilor At-Large Michelle Wu Endorses Jay Gonzalez for Governor

CAMBRIDGE – Monday, June 4, 2018 – After visiting Haley House in Roxbury, the Gonzalez campaign announced the endorsement of Boston City Councilor Michelle Wu. Councilor Wu lends her support to the campaign after Gonzalez’s decisive victory at the Massachusetts Democratic State Convention on June 2.

“I met Jay Gonzalez right here at Haley House in Roxbury over a year ago. I immediately recognized someone who sees Boston as I do — a city with an economic boom not benefiting all of our residents,” stated Councilor Michelle Wu. “Over the past year on the campaign trail, Jay has proven to me his commitment to tackling our generational challenges head-on. From plans for making early childhood education affordable and accessible to vital and urgent investments in transportation equity and renewable energy, Jay has made it his mantra that he will aim high.”

Councilor Wu is an accomplished leader who has been honored as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Leaders by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and as part of Marie Claire magazine’s New Guard: The 50 Most Influential Women in America.

“It’s an incredible honor to have Councilor Wu’s support,” said Jay Gonzalez. “Councilor Wu’s leadership is inspiring, and I hope to earn the chance to partner with her to tackle the many important issues holding people back across our state. I’m running for Governor to improve the lives of those who are being left behind and marginalized. Working with leaders like Councilor Wu, I will stand up for the ‘little guys’ who Governor Baker leaves behind.”

Councilor Wu’s endorsement comes on the first day of Gonzalez’s statewide “Fighting for the ‘Little Guy’ Tour.”
