“Last week, our state bond rating was downgraded for the first time in 30 years. The week before that, Governor Baker announced a half-billion dollar budget deficit with four weeks left in the fiscal year. The Governor’s lack of response to the mess he’s gotten us into is astonishing.  This is another example of his consistent failure to address the deep structural problems in our economy. There’s no plan and no apology.

Today, Governor Baker has an opportunity to get off the sidelines and lead.   At a time when so many are struggling to keep their heads above water, the Fair Share Amendment is a reasonable, modest step towards solving some of our most urgent challenges. It will lay the foundations for revitalized schools and public transportation.

That’s why we’re calling on him to support the millionaire’s tax. The people of Massachusetts deserve to know where Governor Baker stands: does he support asking those at the top to pay more in taxes to support improvements to our education and transportation systems that will benefit everyone, or not?”
