Pittsfield Rep. Tricia Farley-Bouvier endorses Jay Gonzalez

State Rep. Tricia Farley-Bouvier, D-Pittsfield, on Wednesday endorsed Democrat Jay Gonzalez in the 2018 governor’s race.

She is one of the first legislators to take a position in the Democratic primary, which also includes Newton Mayor Setti Warren and environmentalist and entrepreneur Bob Massie. The primary will be held in September 2018.

The Democrats are vying to challenge Republican Gov. Charlie Baker.

“I am supporting Jay because of his commitment to addressing the needs of every part of the state, including Berkshire County,” Farley-Bouvier said in a statement. “Over the last 11 months, Jay has spent time in and around Pittsfield and the Berkshires hearing from voters about our workforce and economic development needs, our transportation needs, the necessity of expanding broadband and how the opioid epidemic is impacting our community.”
